This IDC Perspective presents IDC's AI-based automation evolution framework. To help wade through the hyperbole associated with AI, IDC has developed a framework that allows for the evaluation of the evolving nature of the human-machine relationship and the application of AI at different level of automation scope: from tasks and activities to processes and systems.
"IDC's AI-based automation evolution framework was developed based on global market research that highlighted two lessons. First is the need to understand the scope of AI-based automation. Second is to understand the components of the evolving relationship between the human and the machine. The resulting IDC framework was developed to help business and IT leaders with planning and investment decisions related to AI-based automation," said Dan Vesset, group VP, Analytics and Information Management Research at IDC.
