Strategies for Addressing IT Digital Talent Shortages
Abstract
This IDC Perspective provides guidance to CIOs who are doing battle in the talent wars. This study defines the dimensions of talent shortages, explains what the shortfalls mean to IT and the business, and identifies specific strategies for acquiring and developing the top talent needed to be successful in digital transformation.
"CIOs who view other talent-seeking organizations strictly as competitors will struggle, as they don't always 'have the goods' to persuade tech prospects to join IT," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct research advisor with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "A better strategy, for example, is 'coopetition,' where CIOs compete and cooperate with the other organizations to achieve a win-win scenario for their enterprises."
