This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2018 Consumer Internet of Things Survey, which was fielded in June 2018. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home applications, consumer electronics devices, online entertainment services, and smart assistants as well as security and privacy concerns. This IDC Survey focuses on aspects of the survey related to networked entertainment devices and services.
"Networked entertainment applications are a key stepping stone for consumers in the evolution of their connected homes," says Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Internet of Things: Consumer program. "The results from this survey indicate moderate consumer interest in networked entertainment devices and applications across the United States. As household adoption of networked entertainment rises, there is both a market opportunity for premium video and audio streaming services and an increasing readiness of consumers to move to advanced digital activities like home IoT applications."
