Abstract
This IDC study provides a size and forecast for the worldwide hyperscale infrastructure market for 2018–2023. IDC estimates this market, which consists of compute and storage platforms (including software-defined storage [SDS] and compute), to be $42.8 billion in 2018. IDC estimates that this market will grow at a CAGR of 7.2% and reach $60.5 billion in 2023.
"Hyperscalers will remain a stronghold in the infrastructure market over the next few years, as much of the infrastructure market undergoes a market correction and macroeconomic pressures," said Kuba Stolarski, research director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies at IDC. "The shift to software-defined infrastructure enables hyperscalers to focus on innovation and agility, drive down operational costs, and differentiate based on the uniqueness of their products and services, all characteristics that will keep hyperscalers' infrastructure spending steady during the tough times expected to last into 2020."
