On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight looks at satisfaction levels among smartwatch owners in the United States. In late 2018, IDC surveyed 301 smartwatch owners and posed the question, "How satisfied are you with your smartwatch?"

"The results from this survey point to several important conclusions," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Wearables team. "First, across the board, smartwatch owners are satisfied with their devices, with 83.7% reporting 'somewhat satisfied' or 'extremely satisfied.' Second, we saw a tight finish among the leading smartwatch operating systems, with no one significantly ahead or behind. Potential owners could find a smartwatch that would fit their lifestyle. Finally, there is still plenty of room to grow and develop. On the whole, 16.3% of respondents indicated that they were dissatisfied or neutral with their smartwatches. Still, it is early days for the market, including hardware and software, but the data from this survey points to a strong foundation from which to build."
