Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into tech buyer's attitudes about the data that vendors collect from and about them. The respondents to IDC's IT Buyer Experience 2018 Survey revealed that most buyers aren't comfortable with giving vendors their data until well into their solution evaluation. Personal data (e.g., personal email, mobile phone number, and personal social network affiliation) is particularly risky to collect and use from a customer comfort perspective. This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the optimal time and way to ask for customer data.
