By: Stewart BondResearch Director, Data Integration and Data Intelligence Software

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Presentation provides an overview of recent advances in blockchain technology, a worldwide outlook for spending through 2021, and a dive into integrating blockchain into the enterprise: what means IT and business will require to adapt.

Blockchain technology is rapidly evolving and maturing; obstacles are being overcome and real use cases are emerging out of proof-of-technology pilots. What does this mean for the enterprise?

"With commercial blockchain-as-a-service platforms adding enterprise-level qualities of service and delivering operational blockchain environments for solution development and deployment, enterprises are asking questions about how to integrate with blockchain networks at the technology, process, and community levels," says Stewart Bond, director of Data Integration and Integrity Software research at IDC. "This Presentation is a discussion of some tough questions that need to be answered about atomicity of transactions, shared data, and accountability of network participants if enterprises are to embrace one shared and immutable ledger of trusted data."
