This IDC study provides IDC's forecast for the U.S. smart home device market for 2019–2023.
"Looking back over the past twelve months, one is left with the impression of a nascent industry's steady but incremental march toward the future of a smart, autonomous, and connected home," says Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Consumer Internet of Things research program. "Partnerships have formed in previously unexpected places, and device makers are rapidly expanding their core product portfolios while simultaneously looking to expand into adjacent areas. Vendors across all product categories are pushing deeper into their visions for the future of the smart home, but it is still unclear that value propositions beyond home monitoring and safety will take hold in the near term."
