Hyperledger Global Forum: Demonstrating Leadership in Blockchain
This IDC Market Note provides an overview of the recent Hyperledger Global Forum held in Basel, Switzerland, during December 2018. This Global Forum marked the very first event aimed at bringing together the worldwide Hyperledger community.
"The forum afforded Hyperledger an opportunity to lay out the group's long-term strategies, highlight partner efforts, and foster collaboration within the growing ranks of blockchain developers," says James Wester, research director, Worldwide Blockchain Strategies. "What made the Hyperledger Global Forum a success, and it was a successful and well-run event, was the pervasive sense that the community building blockchain solutions using Hyperledger's frameworks and tools is on the cusp of something important: disrupting the way enterprise software is delivered to multiple industries."
"The core of Hyperledger is being a community, and based on that, the organization cannot disregard the role of trust and its link with decentralization," says Carla La Croce, senior research analyst, Customer Insights and Analysis. "Indeed, a recurring element at the Hyperledger Global Forum was the idea that collaboration and data sharing in decentralized systems are actually more secure and safe than having data in silos."
