On-line Presentation

This IDC Survey is based on IDC's 2018 IaaSView Survey — a global web survey of 1,500 IT decision makers — designed to gain insights into global public cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) adoption by enterprises. The survey was conducted to determine a range of end-user attitudes across, between, and within industries about cloud infrastructure adoption technologies.

The goal of this survey excerpt is to provide insights as to how industries differ with regard to the usage, perceived benefits, and challenges of multicloud IaaS.

"Public cloud infrastructure-as-a-service adoption is maturing, leading to broader adoption across enterprise IT use cases. This expansion is creating new usage patterns and offerings — like multicloud– and public cloud–compatible stacks on-premises," said Deepak Mohan, research director, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group. "Challenges such as a unified control plane do inhibit full-fledged multicloud adoption, though solutions are emerging, albeit slowly."
