By: Ramon T. LlamasResearch Director, Mobile Devices and AR/VR, Adam WrightSenior Research Analyst, Internet of Things: Consumer

Abstract

This IDC study presents the forecast for the U.S. smart video entertainment device market for the 2019–2023 period.

"The U.S. smart video entertainment market is steadily building a presence," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Consumer Internet of Things research program. "Televisions — which make up the vast majority of shipments within the smart video entertainment market — will comprise the majority of volume and value. Moreover, televisions will benefit from smart assistant deployment, direct access to streaming video content without the aid of a separate device, and slowly declining prices. Likewise, streaming sticks will see marked increases, helping consumers access their content to nearly any television. The end result of this is a smart video entertainment market in which consumers have new intuitive ways to interact with their televisions and content on their own terms."
