By: Cushing AndersonProgram Vice President, IT Education and Certification

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the underling details of delivery share contained in Worldwide and U.S. IT Education Services Delivery Forecast, 2019–2023 (IDC #US45055819, May 2019) and various buyer surveys conducted by IDC in this research area since 2002.

Content, audience, environment, and available technology each play a role in how IT training is delivered. Learning strategies for IT education continue to evolve. This graphic depicts the historic shift in purchase patterns of classroom-based training, asynchronous and synchronous elearning, and other common modalities for the 2002–2019 period.

"This Survey Spotlight presentation suggests that elearning has become an increasing share of IT training spending since 2002. It also suggests that the convenience of training is more important than 'place shifting' as a selection criterion for IT education." — Cushing Anderson, program vice president, IT Education and Certification research at IDC
