By: Shari LavaResearch Director, SMB, Shawn FitzgeraldResearch Director, Digital Transformation Strategies

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight cites data from our 2019 Small and Medium-Sized Business Survey and identifies the current maturity of digital transformation approach in small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). It also identifies specific reasons why small and medium-sized businesses have difficulty in elevating digital transformation (DX) maturity and where suppliers can assist in unlocking DX value for potential customers.

According to Shari Lava, research director, Small and Medium-Sized Businesses at IDC, "As of 2018, there are over 6.6 million SMBs in the United States alone. Approximately one-third of them are digitally distraught and need the right strategic partner to make tangible progress if they are going to be able to unlock the kind of growth that more digitally determined SMBs are finding."
