This IDC Survey Spotlight reveals the state of cloud automation among enterprise customers and how much cost savings they are achieving. The document contains data from the Cloud Pulse Survey conducted in 4Q19. IDC conducted this survey of 1,200 IT and finance decision makers to understand various aspects of enterprise cloud automation. The overall goal of the survey was to identify how much enterprises are spending on various aspects of cloud computing and what are their challenges and expectations.
"Enterprises understand the benefits of cloud computing and are plunging forward with multicloud and hybrid cloud architecture. However, the intrinsic complexity of cloud-native environment necessitates intelligent software and sophisticated automation. Without extensive policy-based automation, cloud customers can be burdened with rapidly escalating costs associated with management and IT operations. Enterprises must also start looking into AI/ML as a foundational solution for future automation," explained Chris Kanthan, IDC research manager in the cloud services group.
