U.S. Business Use Smartphone Forecast, 2020–2024

By: Bryan BassettSenior Research Analyst, Enterprise Mobility, Anthony ScarsellaResearch Manager, Mobile Phones

Abstract

This IDC study presents the five-year forecast for the U.S. business use smartphone market in terms of shipments by operating system and user segment (consumer, individual liable, and corporate liable). It is part of IDC's continuing research with respect to mobile devices. Findings in this document are based on information gathered from primary and secondary sources during the past six months.

"While the business use smartphone market is expected to remain relatively stable over the forecast period, it is impossible to deny that the global outbreak of COVID-19 will have a severe and adverse effect on global device markets through 2020," said Bryan Bassett, senior research analyst, IDC's Enterprise Mobility: Deployment Strategies program. "As a result, an intense demand for mobile and remote worker business solutions will follow in the wake of COVID-19's disruption, as governments, businesses, and individuals worldwide look to increase population safety by mitigating exposure and to help alleviate its impact on regular business operations."
