"The year 2019 represented a year of guarded optimism in the PC market, as the Windows 7 EOS date pushed strong commercial upgrades throughout the year. Rising trade tension between the United States and China also provided a unique situation for inventory pull in as PC OEMs anticipated tariffs to take effect across much of the latter half of the year," said Lauren Guenveur, senior research analyst, Devices. "2020 will be a very different year for the PC market, not only because of a slowing upgrade cycle as the Windows 7 EOS date has passed but the ever-evolving situation around the coronavirus and its potential effects on both supply and demand for PCs throughout the year."
