Enterprise Performance Management End-User Survey: Spreadsheets Aren't Going Anywhere Anytime Soon
This IDC Survey includes data from IDC's 2019 Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) End-User Survey. It provides results and analysis from a survey of 250 respondents who are decision makers and/or influencers in their organization's EPM initiatives. Respondents are from a broad range of industries and company sizes in the United States. The goal of the survey was to understand the specific initiatives and technologies deployed as well as the organizational challenges, benefits, and impact of EPM tools and to determine how widespread the use of spreadsheets are in EPM activities. This IDC Survey specifically looks at challenges and opportunities for improvement for organizations deploying EPM initiatives.
"Enterprise performance management is an essential part of success in the digital economy. Enterprises need to have full visibility into the state of the business to plan strategically and operationalize those plans, and that is where EPM tools are needed," said Chandana Gopal, research director, Business Analytics, at IDC. "However, EPM tools have to maintain the look and feel of working with spreadsheets and be easy and intuitive to be owned and managed by the line of business as they don't want to be dependent on IT for use and administration."
