Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation examines how digital transformation is helping address the challenges of operating during the time of COVID-19. By examining dozens of organizations around the world, we can conclude the following:

  • The COVID-19 pandemic is underscoring the importance of being an organization that is resilient, agile, and connected among other traits. We anticipate organizations will continue to invest in digital transformation post pandemic.
  • When organizations do the postmortem on their performance during the pandemic, they will uncover areas where their organization came up short. These shortcomings will define technology investment priorities for the coming years.
  • The required adoption of some technologies during the pandemic has given some organizations that needed push to overcome investment and learning curve hurdles they may have previously faced. We expect to see some of these technologies become a permanent part of the technology footprint.
