On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation examines the impact of COVID-19 on the communications service provider (SP) market. COVID-19 has caused the world to reconsider how people associate and interact with family and conduct business. Under shelter-in-place orders across the globe, travel has been severely curtailed and workers are adjusting where possible to work-from-home schedules. The consequence of this shift has shown dramatic change to the volume of data traveling across communications service provider networks in all geographic sectors. In addition, new ways to use technology in managing communications networks are now emerging.

While COVID-19 shelter-in-place policies have affected how business is now conducted in most industries, the communications industry has remained resilient while incorporating technology to do more in keeping networks operational. Showing that quick adoption of process and systems change is possible in the present environment sets the stage for addressing the near-term operational complexities tied to managing hybrid 5G networks in the months ahead.

This presentation was given to various organizations during April 2020.
