COVID-19 Impact on 2020 SaaS Spend

By: Frank Della RosaResearch Director, SaaS and Cloud Software

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the impact of COVID-19 on SaaS spending for 2020. SaaS plays a vital role in organizational transformation with most businesses anticipating minimal (less than 10%) to no impact on spending in 2020. Businesses accelerate SaaS-led digital transformation to address the exponential increase in demand for remote worker services and greater agility to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions.

"IDC will continue to track changes in IT spending across technologies, regions, and primary and function markets due to the impact of COVID-19. Our research will be updated with the most current data as conditions on the ground are changing almost daily. Companies continue to invest in SaaS to meet the digital needs of employees and customers and to prepare for a return to a growth orientation post-COVID-19, according to Frank Della Rosa, research director for SaaS and Cloud Software at IDC. If the importance and sense of urgency to become a more agile digital business was not clear before, it certainly is now.
