Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping software purchases. IDC's worldwide April 2020 COVID-19 Impact on IT Spending Survey (conducted April 6–15, 2020) indicates how business and IT sentiment is evolving. This is our second IT spending survey for the COVID-19 pandemic and brings information forward to the enterprise application vendors to use in planning and projecting their software sales in the second quarter and in 2020 overall.

Mickey North Rizza, program vice president, Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce, noted, "IDC's April 2020 COVID-19 Impact on IT Spending Survey (conducted April 6–15, 2020) shows that, while organizations have decreased spending in 2020, organizations are still spending but investments are focused on the cloud and SaaS, and there are many nuances driving technology purchase decisions."
