COVID-19 Impact on Data Security Spend by Size of Business

By: Frank DicksonProgram Vice President, Cybersecurity Products, Robyn WesterveltResearch Director, Security & Trust

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight focuses on the expectations for data security investments as a result of COVID-19 by size of business. Changing expectations for data security spend reflect "personality" of sizes of business.

The dramatic force of change, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the resulting mass migration of workers, students, and others to a home-based existence is unprecedented. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted enterprises to mobilize around work from home (WFH) to slow the virus' spread, care for employee well-being, and ensure business continuity. Yet the rapid and unplanned broadening of WFH instances weaken cyber-resiliency, leading to increased exposure to cyberthreats and, in a twist of fate, a step backward in business continuity.
