Wave 3: Examining the Ongoing COVID-19 Impact on U.S. and Worldwide Printer Spending in 2020

By: Keith KmetzProgram Vice President, Imaging, Printing & Document Solutions

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the massive impact that the COVID-19 has had on the global economy and IT spending. Its presence has literally shut down worldwide operations in business, in education, and across all facets of society.

In this third data set, IDC continues to monitor the 2020 impact on spending across several IT product segments (IDC's COVID-19 Impact on IT Spending Survey, Wave 3). The second quarter analysis was eliminated in this latest edition. This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the printer-specific question and compares the earlier April data sets (see Examining the COVID-19 Impact on U.S. and Worldwide Printer Spending in 2Q20 and Over the Course of Full-Year 2020, IDC #US46210920, April 2020 and Wave 2: Examining the COVID-19 Impact on U.S. and Worldwide Printer Spending in 2Q20 and Over the Course of Full-Year 2020, IDC #US46241420, April 2020) with the latest data revisited during April 22–29. Even though the time period between the data sets is relatively short, the latest findings demonstrate an ongoing negative trend, particularly in the United States.
