This IDC Perspective introduces AI Plane (AIP) — an interoperable framework to select the right infrastructure stack to power AI workloads. Further, this document introduces two specific implementations of AIP. Open AI Plane is an implementation based on open source tools and options. As-a-service AI Plane is an implementation based on as-a-service offerings provided by public cloud service providers. IDC recommends enterprises to leverage the AIP framework for selecting an appropriate infrastructure stack to power AI workloads.

"With so many choices and options available, end users are often perplexed about the right infrastructure stack. AIP provides a simple framework to select the right infrastructure stack, with accommodations to considerations on cost, flexibility, and infrastructure utilization."
