Worldwide and U.S. IT Education Services Delivery Forecast, 2020–2024

By: Cushing AndersonProgram Vice President, IT Education and Certification

Abstract

This IDC study presents the worldwide and U.S. IT education services delivery forecast for 2020 through 2024. The forecast includes an analysis of the impact of the pandemic on delivery modalities and illustrates several technology areas that will influence training delivery shifts for the 2020–2024 forecast period. The main areas covered are the distribution of spending across delivery models: classroom-based instructor-led training (C-ILT), elearning content, virtual instructor-led training (v-ILT), CD-ROM–based training, text-based training, and video/satellite video training.

"The shift from classroom-based instruction will be rapid, significant, and permanent. However, the biggest challenge for IT education vendors is establishing the correct value proposition for training over client spending time and money on some other activity." — Cushing Anderson, program vice president, IT Education and Training Research at IDC
