Shared Cross-Cloud Management Control Planes Become Enterprise Priority
By: Mary Johnston Turner
This IDC Survey Spotlight evaluates how the need for more consistent hybrid and multicloud performance analytics, cost management, and asset tracking is driving enterprise interest in consistent cross-cloud management control planes. The document contains data from IDC's Cloud Pulse Survey, 1Q20, conducted in March 2020. The worldwide survey solicited detailed replies on cloud infrastructure deployment and management strategies from 2,000 respondents across a wide range of industries and company sizes. This IDC Survey Spotlight looks specifically at responses provided by 409 enterprise IT decision makers representing organizations with over 1,000 employees.
"Interest in consistent cross-cloud management and visibility is rapidly increasing as enterprises move more workloads into hybrid and multicloud infrastructure platforms, including both VM and container-based environments. A significant majority of enterprise cloud infrastructure management decision makers report that it is very important to have management tools and capabilities that span across multiple cloud environments, including public, private, hosted, and edge locations. Performance monitoring and analytics is most often identified as the top priority for cross-cloud management functional requirement." — Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, Cloud Management at IDC
