This IDC Survey provides an updated view of the shift of business priorities of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which have changed drastically since the emergence of COVID-19. It also shows the business health and revenue impacts of COVID-19 on SMBs including views by company size, digital maturity, and industry where relevant. The survey further identifies the shift in focus of SMB IT departments, including changes to budget allocations, technical priorities, technology investment philosophy, and barriers to digitizing.
According to Shari Lava, research director, Worldwide Small and Medium Business Research, "COVID-19 has completely shifted the business and technology focus of the SMB market, as businesses that can no longer wait to digitize need to completely rethink their business model and quickly implement the necessary technology to help the business pivot to the next normal. For most SMBs, status quo is no longer an option."
