This IDC Survey document presents key findings from IDC's 2020 U.S. Consumer Smartphone Survey. The survey provides an updated review of the key trends in the U.S. consumer mobile phone market. These trends include refresh cycles, brand preferences, purchasing criteria, and attitudes toward new technologies. The goal of this and prior surveys is to track year-over-year changes in established trends as well as to identify market forces that could impact the growth and adoption of mobile technology in the United States.
"Although there are some results that echo past survey trends, we believe that the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China will move the consumer mobile market in 2020 in a new direction. This survey was fielded during March 14–26, 2020, and provides a snapshot of the impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. consumer mobile phone market," said William Stofega, program director, IDC's Mobile Phone research program.
