Worldwide Supply Chain Management Applications Forecast, 2021–2025
Abstract
This IDC study discusses the forecast for the worldwide supply chain management applications market. Off a somewhat soft 2020, this market is expected to see strong growth through 2025 as organizations look to both better optimize their supply chain operations in the short term while ensuring they are resilient to market disruptions in the longer term. IDC surveys suggest that while supply chain executives are mindful of operational efficiency in the short term, they recognize the importance of the supply chain as an enabler of new business models. Growth in the supply chain management applications market will be driven by both the short-term focus and the long-term focus.
"The importance of the supply chain in a post-pandemic world is critical for businesses to meet their performance targets. Without the use of modern supply chain management tools, supply chains simply cannot compete at the levels necessary for competitive differentiation. SCM investments are both a competitive necessity and key to driving a differentiating edge over peers," says Simon Ellis, program VP, Global Supply Chain Strategies.
