This IDC Survey represents data from IDC's survey of 100 U.S. buyers of product engineering services. The survey was fielded in the third week of May 2020.

The focus of this survey is to understand how COVID-19 has impacted buying behavior across every life cycle of product engineering services across 17 industry segments.

"As technology product customers curtail spending due to the severe impact of COVID-19 on their business, they will expect their product engineering services to provide support with reduced billing rates and additional support to keep innovating," stated Mukesh Dialani, program director, Product Engineering and Operational Technology Services at IDC. "On the other hand, product engineering service providers have the opportunity to strategize and pilot innovative technology product solutions with their customers. This is to ensure that when global economies start their recovery process, these technology product organizations will have the ability to provide differentiated and transformed products to customers.
