Abstract

This IDC study provides IDC's digital transformation (DX) use case taxonomy for higher education. This taxonomy is organized by six strategic priorities, which are common in priorities in college and university settings around the globe — lifelong student engagement, optimized student health, faculty empowerment, next-gen administration, funding and partnership enhancement, and campus of the future. The study also provides a guide to an institution's digital transformation journey, describing what is possible and areas of high-technology impact so that institutions can take a strategic approach to IT investment aligned with institutional objectives.

"To continue to be relevant to society and to students, all institutions need to transform their academic, research, administrative, and campus capabilities using digital technologies," says Ruthbea Yesner, VP, Government Insights and Education at IDC. "No part of the institution is untouched by digital transformation, although some areas demand attention given the current global environment, while others may be a few short years into the future."
