Worldwide Database Management Systems Software Market Shares, 2019: Managing Data Across the Spectrum
This IDC study reports the three year market shares of vendors in the four database management systems markets, broken out by market, from 2017 to 2019, with data regarding geographic region revenue distribution, current versus constant currency analysis, and public cloud versus nonpublic cloud deployment. Key vendors and market developments are also discussed. The four database management systems markets are distributed data grid managers, dynamic data management systems, nonrelational database management systems, and relational database management systems.
"One significant phenomenon across these markets is that vendors are addressing workloads outside the reach of particular database modes of operation," says Carl Olofson, research vice president, Data Management Systems research at IDC. "They are doing this in two ways: one is by offering database systems that operate in multiple modes (so-called 'multimodal databases') and the other is by offering specialized database systems that support each mode."
