Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the Wave 8 data collected from July 7 to July 20 and compares it with the past seven data sets, starting in March. This data shows a mix of responses that nearly match the first data set collected in March.

In this eighth data set, the worldwide printer spending trend continues to trend positively. However, this assessment should be taken with caution as the change from previous data sets only reveals a very slight movement in this direction. While there is some encouraging signs in the data, we believe that a full recovery of , or back to normal, printer spending trend will be challenged by the establishment of a "next normal" where new work-from-home employees may have adopted workstyles that impact their typical use of printing assets.

We continue to examine the massive impact that the COVID-19 crisis has had on the global economy and IT spending. Its presence has literally shutdown worldwide operations in business, in education, and across all facets of society.

In this latest data set, IDC combines the responses from Waves 1-8 to provide a timeline over the past several months regarding the perceptions and expectations for worldwide printer spending trends.
