On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation provides as assessment of the lasting effects of COVID-19 on business and technology. By leveraging IDC's most recent five-year predictions, technology forecasts, and data from IDC's enterprise technology buyer and consumer surveys, the presentation outlines the three technology initiatives that will likely be included in most digital road maps for 2021 and beyond. The presentation also includes several industry technology transformations that are here to stay.

"Overall ICT spending is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5% through 2024. In terms of total IT spending, we are seeing a more shallow V-shaped drop this year. Total IT will drop to about 1% growth this year, but this is far stronger than the -3% performance we were expecting earlier this year," said Crawford Del Prete, president, IDC.

"The pandemic created a business necessity for increasing technology investment and accelerating digital transformation timetables," said Meredith Whalen, chief research officer, IDC. "What we are learning is that many of these initiatives that started as ways to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19 have become permanent road map requirements for the future enterprise's success in the digital economy."
