Wave 13: Printer Spending Trends — The Latest Wave Data Shows More Optimism in the United States Versus Worldwide Data for 2021

By: Keith KmetzProgram Vice President, Imaging, Printing & Document Solutions

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines printer spending trends from the wave 13 data collected during October 15 to 30, 2020. As noted in the previous survey results, IDC is now asking about 2021 spending trends.

In this latest data set, we observed a rare phenomenon; that is, the U.S. results are slightly more positive than what is viewed on a worldwide basis. The worldwide data trends a bit more negative than it did in wave 12, while the most significant change in the U.S. data was a considerable increase in neutral responses. In addition, the worldwide data sets (waves 12 and 13) show higher negative trend responses than positive responses. For the United States, the comparison between positive and negative responses are virtually equal in both data sets.
