Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation provides an overview analysis of outsourcing (managed services) deals signed from 2H15 to 1H20. The document also includes analysis of outsourcing deals coming up for renewal in the next two to three years. Specifically, it explores signing trends before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the pandemic's potential impact on outsourcing deals coming up for renewal.

"In terms of revenue, most services vendors faced headwinds during the past couple of quarters, namely the second and third quarters," said Xiao-Fei Zhang, program director, Services Contracts Analysis and Services Tracker teams. "However, because managed services contracts underpin enterprises' business continuity, signings have been relatively intact. Pricing, scope, and terms may have scaled back temporarily, but we did not see a collapse of large outsourcing deals."

"We are seeing third-quarter outsourcing signings bounce back, at least in the commercial sector, as well as announcements of some very large transformational deals, as some large organizations are beginning to use this crisis to fast-track large deals. As painful as it has been for most businesses and government agencies, the pandemic is creating a sense of urgency for change and forcing them to reimagine what's possible."
