Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective provides a long-range strategic outlook of the markets and emerging technologies for the rise of the 5G cellular and the expected 6G network infrastructure. It highlights the upcoming 3GPP standards release under specifications and the key technology components necessary for future wireless communication. Artificial intelligence (AI)–enabled techniques, satellite-based cloud connectivity, ground station as a service, and cloud computing will be the foundations for future 6G wireless communications; they have already established their presence in today's ecosystem to ignite new businesses relying on the network capabilities made possible by 5G.
