IDC's New Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey Offers Optimism for U.S. and Worldwide 2021 Printer Spending Trends

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines printer spending data collected in IDC's new Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey. The question raised in this survey, however, is the same as what was used in last year's COVID-19 wave survey study conducted throughout 2020. The question is, "Compared to your organization's actual spending in 2020 (after COVID-19 adjustments), how do you think your organization's actual spending on printers with change in 2021?"

While the 2020 COVID-19 wave survey offered a largely pessimistic perspective on printer spending, the new data revealed in this latest effort offers considerably more optimism for 2021. The increased spending responses (42% in both regions) are notably higher than the decreased spending responses (25% for both regions). These results reverse the trend from the COVID-19 wave survey in which a consistently higher decreased printer spending response versus increased printer spending response was observed.
