Abstract
This IDC Survey provides senior IT leaders with survey data, collected in December 2020, that illustrates companies' interests and priorities for application modernization. IDC's Intelligent Application Services practice conducted this survey to understand how organizations plan to evolve their application portfolios today and in the future; the data also illustrates how senior IT leaders intend to transform their application portfolio landscape to meet business needs in the future.

Many organizations have begun to realize their legacy applications hold back enterprise abilities to pivot amid changing economic climates, and the future concerns of their businesses are at risk. As a result, enterprises have elevated priorities for application modernization and are modernizing many facets of their application portfolios to not only leap ahead of competitors but also better prepare their businesses to compete in the next normal," explained Pete Marston, IDC's Worldwide Intelligent Application Services.
