Abstract

This IDC Market Note provides an overview of the recently launched Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, a new edition of its Kubernetes management and data services platform. OpenShift Platform Plus adds a third edition to Red Hat's family of Kubernetes management platforms, but it is also now the flagship product for Red Hat's Kubernetes distribution. This latest product adds security, hybrid and multicloud monitoring, and management capabilities as well as a global container image registry.

"With this latest edition of OpenShift, Red Hat has addressed key requirements needed for any mature container operating environment," said Lucas Mearian, research manager, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group at IDC. "Production microservices architectures most often span on-prem and public clouds, and being able to access a single view of those operating environments for security and management purposes brings tremendous value to users. DevOps environments also benefit greatly from a secure and validated image registry, which OpenShift will offer."
