Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective describes the important components of cyber-recovery as a service (CRaaS) and the types of suppliers for whom it may make sense to develop such a solution. Cyber-recovery as a service is a nascent market whose time has come. Disaster recovery (including DRaaS) has numerous shortcomings when used for ransomware recoveries.

"Our research shows that the majority of ransomware recoveries have less-than-satisfactory results, either because the victim is forced to pay a ransom or because data is lost, or often both," said Phil Goodwin, research vice president, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group at IDC. "We believe CRaaS is an emerging market that can yield high-growth opportunities with solid margins for those suppliers able to take advantage of it."
