Repatriation of Workloads from Shared to Dedicated Infrastructure Environments Update: More Focus on Operational Side
Abstract
This IDC Survey document analyzes recent activity of enterprise users regarding repatriation of workloads from shared infrastructure into dedicated IT environments. The topic was covered in a global survey on enterprise infrastructure workloads, which was completed in August 2021. The concept of workloads repatriation, or workloads churn, isn't new and is part of the process for enterprises to find an optimal distribution of IT resources and applications across variety of IT environments, including on-premises dedicated clouds and private cloud services. Survey results from August 2021 are also compared with the results of the survey completed in February 2021 and published in IDC's Drivers for Repatriation of Workloads from Shared to Dedicated Infrastructure Environments (IDC #US47961321, July 2021).
