Abstract

This IDC study analyzes the outsourced document services marketplace that comprises in-house production print services, mailroom services, print sourcing and procurement services, and imaging and document archival services. This document updates Worldwide and U.S. Outsourced Document Services Forecast, 2020–2024 (IDC #US45238120, June 2020).

Note that any revenue generated by centralized services that are included as a component of a managed print and document services (MPDS) or basic print services (BPS) contract is excluded from this forecast. That revenue is included in Worldwide and U.S. Managed Print and Document Services and Basic Print Services Forecast Update, 2021–2025 (IDC #US47102021, April 2022), which will be updated in July 2022. In addition, the business process outsourcing (BPO) document services segment is covered in Worldwide Document Workflow Automation and Optimization Forecast, 2022–2026 (IDC #US47974522, March 2022).

"The outsourced document services market continues to show some resiliency in a challenging climate," says Robert Palmer, research vice president, IDC Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions. "The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed certain near-term strategic investments, but organizations remained focused in areas such as outsourcing and digital transformation, which will fuel demand within all segments of the market."
