Worldwide Procurement Applications Forecast, 2021–2025: Procurement and Partnerships Are Progressing to a Digital-First World

By: Mickey North RizzaProgram Vice President, Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce, Jordan JewellResearch Director, Digital Commerce and Enterprise Applications

Abstract

This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide procurement applications market.

"The pandemic completely shifted the on-premises workstyle to remote, also enhancing the value proposition for SaaS and cloud procurement systems. In addition, procurement organizations find they continue to invest in the missing elements including procurement analytics, supplier performance management, self-service requisitioning and approval workflows, dynamic pricing, and strategic sourcing modules. These technologies, along with a few others in procurement, are helping procurement organizations with cost reduction, security of supply, and sustainability. This trend will continue well into 2025 because the digitization of workflows between the buyers and suppliers and across an organization means that procurement finds greater insights, makes decisions in real time, and enables better performance overall," explains Mickey North Rizza, IDC program vice president, Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce.
