Abstract

This IDC study provides a forecast for the worldwide intelligent process automation (IPA) software market for 2022–2026.

"While the IPA market in 2021 outpaced last year's forecast, a variety of factors tied to, at best, economic uncertainty and, at worst, a downturn will result in modestly softer spending in the early periods of the forecast. It is unclear whether automation spending will be countercyclical as enterprises invest in automation to cut costs or whether a recession sets in and spending aligns with the reality of reduced budgets or buying power hurt by higher prices," according to Maureen Fleming, program vice president, Intelligent Process Automation Software. "IPA vendor messaging and product design that align with demonstrable proof of value will be especially critical through this period of uncertainty."
