This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2020 U.S. Smart TV Recent Buyer Survey, which was fielded in 4Q20. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward recent purchases of smart TVs.
"The factors driving recent purchases of smart TVs in the United States continue to center around practical features rather than smart or internet-connected capabilities," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst, IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "Holiday sales and special promotions helped lower the mean price paid for TVs in the fourth quarter. Screen size and sound quality were a big focus as consumers continued to shift entertainment needs in-house during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."
