Abstract

This IDC Web Conference presents a discussion on how retailers' supply chains are quickly transforming to align with accelerating ecommerce and rising customer expectations for omni-channel fulfillment options. Consumer behavior has been indelibly altered by the pandemic, and this has accelerated new retail models and the complexity of the supply chains that serve them. While in the wake of the pandemic retailers shifted quickly to scale up omni-channel offerings, such as BOPIS, curbside, ship from store, and same-day delivery, they are now reckoning with the complexity and high costs of these models. But the customer has spoken: they want the convenience of omni-channel, the luxury of choice, and even information about inventory availability and location, up front, to aid in their decision making.
