How Will Enterprises Optimize End-to-End Digital Infrastructure and Application Management Over the Next Two Years?

By: Mary Johnston TurnerResearch Vice President, Future of Digital Infrastructure

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into how enterprise approaches to managing complex digital infrastructure environments will evolve over the next two years. The document contains data from IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure 2Q21 Agenda Survey, conducted in June 2021. The survey was designed to identify trends in enterprise digital infrastructure architecture, operations, sourcing, and strategies for the next two years. It solicited input from 254 United States–based enterprise decision makers.

"IDC's research found that over the next two years, 81% of U.S. enterprises expect to turn to digital infrastructure vendors and cloud service providers to take more responsibility for many day-to-day digital infrastructure support activities, while internal staff focus more on policies, SLAs, and application management," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure Agenda research. "The ability to provide consistent management and security across complex, interconnected on-premises, edge, and public cloud infrastructure will be a critical priority for most enterprises."
