Abstract

This IDC Survey presents the results of a global page volume survey IDC conducted in May 2021 to examine the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic on the opportunity for print. The following analysis includes both worldwide and U.S. results of a select number of questions raised in the survey. These questions covered respondent perspectives on the use of print in three periods: pre-pandemic, during the pandemic, and future expectations. Specifically, the questions addressed:

  • The proportion of time working at home
  • Access to a printing device
  • Average and median number of pages printed per month for work
  • Average and median document length printed for work
  • Average and median percentage of color pages printed for work
  • Average and median percentage of duplexed pages printed for work
  • Toner/ink reimbursement for work printing done on home devices
  • Type of toner/ink cartridges used to replace empty cartridges
  • Print volume trend for work
  • Top reasons for decreasing and increasing print
