Enterprise Storage Vendor Infinidat Expands Total Available Market Opportunities with All-Flash System Introduction
This IDC Market Note reviews the InfiniBox SSA announcement, discussing its genesis, features, and target workloads and customers as well as providing some commentary around the vendor's evolving value proposition. In June 2021, enterprise storage vendor Infinidat announced its first all-flash system, the InfiniBox SSA. This is notable because Infinidat's hybrid flash array, the InfiniBox, has been outperforming all-flash arrays running mixed enterprise workloads for years, a factor which has fueled the vendor's rapid revenue growth since Infinidat first shipped products in 2013. The release of the SSA expands the vendor's total available market in two important ways: first, it enables Infinidat to go after enterprises' most latency-sensitive tier 0 workloads, and second, it enables the company to bid on request for proposals that mandate all-flash systems.
"Infinidat's focus on meeting evolving customer requirements has led to expansions in the company's total available market in important ways in the vendor's decade of existence," said Eric Burgener, research vice president, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group at IDC. "The recent introduction of an all-flash version of the company's unique InfiniBox enterprise storage solution will have this effect as well, opening up good additional opportunities for future revenue growth."
